Scholarship amount

₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month).

Eligibility

Selected in the NMMS exam conducted by your state; parental income not more than ₹3.5 lakh a year; at least 55% in Class 8 (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST); studying in a government, government-aided or local body school.

Documents required

Aadhaar, bank account seeded with Aadhaar, previous marksheet, income certificate (where an income limit applies), fee receipt / bonafide certificate.

How to apply

Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal, then fill the application for this scheme. Your institute verifies it online after you submit.

NMMSS awards 1,00,000 fresh scholarships a year to Class 9 students selected through the state-level NMMS exam, continued up to Class 12.

Dates are from the scheme list on the National Scholarship Portal for academic year 2026-27. Apply only on scholarships.gov.in (One Time Registration first). From 2026-27 a student may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes.
