Eligibility

Admitted to the first year of your first PG degree at an eligible institution; below 30 years of age at admission (see guidelines).

Documents required

Aadhaar, bank account seeded with Aadhaar, previous marksheet, income certificate (where an income limit applies), fee receipt / bonafide certificate.

How to apply

Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the National Scholarship Portal, then fill the application for this scheme. Your institute verifies it online after you submit.

UGC awards 10,000 scholarships for students in the first year of their first PG degree in India, with 30% of slots for women (filled first by single girl child / twin applicants).

Dates are from the scheme list on the National Scholarship Portal for academic year 2026-27. Apply only on scholarships.gov.in (One Time Registration first). From 2026-27 a student may apply for one merit-based scheme and one or more welfare-based schemes.
